I know one of the first sign of metasitsized breast cancer is back pain, besides the result of blood test. Every time I feel something in my back, I'm paranoid. My doctor advised me that it's part of side effects from medicine I'm taking. However, I started to feel dull pain in my back more often and my fear got bigger. My doctor knows how paranoid I've been so he scheduled the bone scan test right away to put my mind at ease. (He is very good at calming and comforting. I can ask any stupid questions and he doesn't think it's stupid. He takes my concerns very seriously. )
Bone scan is like a better version of x-ray. You lay down on the table and the machine rotates around you. No pain, nothing. easy test.
I got a call from my doctor's office, informing there is no cancer in my bones. YAY! My back pain must be coming from old mattress, lack of exercise, or just age...

Hiya, came across your blog and bone scan image after havign a bone scan for back pain myself.... I don't want to alarm you, but looking at your scan, I think the cause of your back pain is some mild scoliosis, there is a definite curve in your spine from side to side, the spine when lying in a prone position should be a straight line. I have scoliosis, but mine is a type called kyphosis, where it curves too far forward causing an imbalance. But you may want to take your scan image and ask the Dr about it, as there are things that can be done to stop it progressing, as it may do over time.....hope you are well...take care...Karen
I was just searching for bone scan images and came across this in Google images...you definitely have scoliosis. It looks a bit more than mild as well (I have severe scoliosis so I can relate). Did your doctor not mention this to you when he saw your scan? You should probably see your doctor or get referred to a spine specialist if the pain keeps bothering you. A good physiotherapist should be able to help you as well with exercises.
Good luck!
